30th
Piano, Keys, Vocals, Other.
It’s high time for an update.
We all went home for Thanksgiving which was a welcome break from this process. Eating and visiting with some extended family I had not seen in a while allowed me to put my mind in another place for a while, which was nice. Alas, this break only lasted for one day before going back to work. It is not so daunting, however, when you are in love with what you do:)
As far as the recording, things are running behind schedule. We had hoped today would be the last day from the outset, but this is far from so. None of us are discouraged though: this just means we are spending more time trying to make things just right, which will amount to a better sounding record. We are still shooting for an early spring release.
I have been recording vocals and keys over the past few days, which has been fun and challenging. Recording piano is unlike anything else. It is such a delicate and expressive instrument that you have to play everything just so, or it will sound awkward. You have to pay very close attention to how hard or soft you play, because the piano is VERY sensitive to the dynamics of your playing, especially in the recording situation. Because of this, piano is taking (of course) longer than anticipated.
Because this part of the recording is really just me tracking my parts, the other guys have gone home to work and be responsible men. I miss my brothers… I write this blog out of loneliness and to keep myself occupied.
“Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.” So I blog, and therefore, I am.
