Sharkbite Sessions: Day 1
Today we have begun our month-long recording adventure. We are spending the first portion of our time at Sharkbite Studios for drums.
We are all really excited to finally see this thing come together. The studio is real nice, though we are all pretty tired from staying up late, tuning drums and jamming to Evol Intent. Right now, Luke is testing his drum sounds and we will soon be recording.
Here’s the nerd out part… The mics here are super nice; mostly Neumanns. The studio is sweet.

my turn.
We arrived last night around 11 o’clock PM to tune Luke’s drums and go over the tracklisting for the album with A-ron. We ended up taking breaks by viewing McCain photoshops/GIFs and listening to our demos and a dude who talks in his sleep. Spent the night at Aaron’s and made our way to Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, CA this morning. It’s owned by Ryan, the guy who was in American Steel and some other seminal bay area punk bands. The board we’re tracking with was used for guitars on Pink Floyd’s The Wall, some Steely Dan and some Fleetwood Mac recordings. There’s also a Vox AC30 that George Harrison used on a Beatles’ album, but we don’t have the budget to track guitars here as well.
It didn’t really hit me until yesterday (about an hour before we were supposed to leave) exactly what we were embarking on, but it’s a great feeling. I’ve never spent this much time in the studio and I look forward to seeing these songs come to life. We’ve got three engineers helping us with the drum sounds for the album so it should be a good time.

This morning I woke up at about 5am and caught a train down here to Emeryville to come to the studio…we walked into Sharkbite where we will be recording just the drums and this studio is definately the nicest studio I’ve every been in..right now Luke is playing the same beat he has been playing for the last hour and he’s looking pretty tired..but the drum are starting to sound super legit..
I appreciate you for reading our blog and i promise we will keep our blog updated through this process so that those of you who care can know whats going on with us!
